The Super Nes

Background
The Super Nes is one of the greatest acievements in the console gaming world. It was released to a dubious public in 1991, and started off very slowly. The Genesis had already been out for some time, and had a large fan base. It had a far more aggressive advertising campaign. It had a lower price tag. And, Sega didn't sensor their games, as Nintendo did at first. However the Snes was the superior machine, and when Nintendo lowered it's sensorship standards (and their prices), people started buying it, and started realizing what a solid bunch of games there were for it. It certainly pushed the 16-bit platform to it's limits, especially some of the games with special chips (like Super FX and the SA-1). One might even go as far as to say the Snes' graphics rival even those of some 32-bit games. And the sound processor . . . wow. Makes the Genesis sound like a wind-up music box. The sound and music was untouchable by anything else in release at the time, and is rivaled only by higher platform systems. If you've never tried the Snes before, I suggest you take some time out and play one. Anyway, on with the music. Midi Files |
